MT4 Android User Guide
To install the MT4 app, locate the Google Play on your phone and search for ‘MetaTrader 4’ by ‘MetaQuotes Software Corporation’.
When you open the ‘MetaTrader 4’ application, you are taken to the ‘Quotes’ window:
Tap the ‘menu’ button and select ‘Accounts’. Here you can select between ‘Login with existing account’ and ‘Open a demo account’.
To login to your InterTrader account, you will have to search for our server first. To login with a live account, tap ‘InterTraderDirect-Live’.
Enter your account number in the Login field and your password below and you will be directed to the ‘Quotes’ window, where you can see the live prices.
Open Demo Account
To open a demo account, search for our demo server by tapping ‘InterTraderDirect-Demo’. Fill in the required information and tap ‘Create account’. On completion of your registration, your demo account details will appear in the screen. Tap ‘Done’ to finalise the process and be directed to the ‘Quotes’ window, where you will see the live prices.
This is one of the four main areas of the MetaTrader 4 app and can be customized to suit your trading preferences.
To see more detailed information about the instruments, select the ‘menu’ button, tap ‘Settings’ and tick the ‘Advanced mode’ box. In the advanced mode you also see Spreads, Time data, High and Low prices.
To add an instrument, tap ‘Plus’ and the instruments you wish to add to your live quotes list.
To remove an instrument, tap the ‘bin’ icon, select the symbols you wish to remove and press the ‘delete’ button to confirm.
To change the order of display, tap and hold the ‘arrow’ icon to the right of the instrument and drag it to the preferred position.
By tapping on an instrument, you will see three options:
- New order – Place orders for instant execution or pending orders
- Charts – Open the ‘Chart’ window
- Details – Shows detailed information
In the Trade section you will see your account information: P&L, Balance, Equity, Margin, Free margin and Margin level and below that a summary of your current open positions.
Tap a position to see further information: Stop Loss levels, Take Profit levels, ticket numbers and swap charges.
Open a trade
- Go to ‘Quotes’, tap the instrument you want to trade and select ‘New Order’
- Tap Android ‘menu’ and select ‘New Order’
First, select the type of order you wish to place. There are five available types of order:
- Instant Execution (Market Order)
- Buy Limit
- Sell Limit
- Buy Stop
- Sell Stop
Then, select the instrument from the drop down menu, enter the volume you wish to trade and tap ‘next’.
Finally you will be given the option to customise the following two parameters:
- Stop Loss
- Take Profit
After customizing the fields, tap ‘buy’ or ‘sell’. Once your trade has been placed, you will receive an execution confirmation that you now hold an open position.
Close a trade
In order to close open positions you have to go to the ‘Trade’ window. Tap and hold the selected position until the sub-menu is displayed and tap ‘Close order’.
If you receive a price at which you wish to exit your trade, confirm the volume size and tap ‘next’. When your request has been executed, you will get a confirmation on screen.
Modify an order
To modify an order, you have to go to the Trade window.
Select the order you want to modify. Tap and hold to open the sub-menu Modify to change the Stop Loss and/or Take Profit.
Adjust the parameters ‘Stop Loss’ and/or ‘Take Profit’ and tap ‘Right key’ to close the keyboard and then ‘Modify’.
When your request is approved, you will receive a confirmation.
By tapping the Chart icon you get a full-screen chart. Use the sub-toolbar to make the desired adjustments:
- Time frame: Choose between different timeframes (M1, M5, M15, M30, H1, H4, D1)
- Chart type: Select between bar chart, candlestick and line chart
- Symbol: Select the instrument to be displayed in the chart window
In this area you have a full overview of your closed trades, cancelled or amended pending orders, deposits and withdrawals.
You can customize the time frame, by tapping the ‘clock’ option at the top right.
To search the history by instrument, enter the instrument name in the search box:
