Professional trading with
InterTrader – are you eligible?

Regulatory changes mean there are now higher margins and
leverage restrictions for retail traders

These new rules, imposed by the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) on 1 August, do not apply to professional traders. Many of our retail clients may find they meet the requirements to become a professional trader with InterTrader.

Lower margins and higher leverage

Here’s an example of how our margin rates will differ between retail and pro clients from 1 August:

Example

Say UK 100 is trading at 7700 and you want to open a spread betting position at £10 per point.

The margin required to open this position for pro traders is: (£10 x 7700) x 0.5% = £385. (Note: as a pro trader you can reduce your margin even further by placing a stop.)

Under the new regulations the margin required to open this position for retail traders is: (£10 x 7700) x 5% = £3850.

So retail clients need to deposit an additional £3465 to open the same position.

An award-winning service

Spread betting and CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Between 64-72% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading these products with this provider.
You should consider whether you understand how these products work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.
